Why are Cricinfo harping on about getting the bonus point in 24.5 overs? You'd think it would be irrelevant if it wasn't to decide who makes the final.
Bangladesh 25/3 (5.5/31 ov)
This partnership must be broken soon. Bring Mendis on!

That's what I thought earlier:
here's a thought. Maybe Bangladesh do need the bonus point! If Bangladesh and Zimbabwe end up both on 4 points, then it could be decided by who the winner of the match between BD and Zim was before it becomes a matter of net run rate.

CricInfo stressing Bangla needs to overhaul the target in 24.5 overs to avail bonus point. Confusing again.

3/44, this is stupid. Shakib is hammering the bowlers to all parts. Please Mahela, get the spinners on.

Mendis comes on. A reminder - Bangladesh need to reach the target in 24.5 ov to get the bonus point
They must have to get it then

So that's about 6.3 an over required.
I'd love another few wickets so we don't have to get to that stage though...

Only 90 or so runs needed now, pretty comfortable win from here I would imagine. :(

The match being played with reduced overs will affect the NRR calculations - can't think how it would result in Bangladesh's NRR dropping if they don't hit target in 24.5 & don't have time to do the sums, but that may be the "problem".

I think the problem is that Zimbabwe beat Bangladesh, and there is confusion over whether "head to head" comes into play before net run rate does.
Either way, Bangladesh have this game wrapped up and they will be able to get it inside the 24.5 overs.

Things that make you go "hmmmmm".
To be fair, though, a their win against Sri Lanka is probably more of an achievement than our win against Bangladesh, so they deserve the final place. Blame our batsmen for screwing up against Sri Lanka on Monday.

There was a thread over at Banglacricket after Zim beat them, arguing that the match was clearly fixed. I'm half-tempted to go and counter the argument with this result. :)

This match is definitely fixed. Lanka can play this woefully only against us.

Well, the result is difficult to believe. But, we are not in the finals. Only way we can show that we are better is by winning the ODI series 3-0. Hope we do that.

>Bangladesh has beat Sri Lanka by 5 wickets and Bangladesh is through to the final.
>Shakib al hasan scored 92 of 69 delivaries hitting 10 boundaries and 2 sixes.Shakib is named the man of the match. He really hammered all the bowlers of Sri Lanka including Mendis and Murailitharan.
>Rubel Hussain made a fantastic debute and his figure (5.3-0-33-4).Mashrafe bowled a brilliant spell of (7-1-25-3).
>Sanath Jayasuriya scored 54 runs of 64 bowls with 7 boundaries.
>The bowlers of Sri Lanka were just hammered by Bangladeshi batsmen. The figure of Mendis (6.5-0-37-1,econ 5.41) and Murailitharan (6-0-40-0,econ 6.66) tells everything.
>Bangladesh is through the final achieving the winning point and a bonus point and their total point is 5 equalling Sri Lanka.Sri Lanka is top in the table with a better net run rate than Bangaldesh.Bangladesh is in the 2nd position and disappointedly Zimbabwe in the 3rd.
>Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will play the final match at friday.
It's very disappointing for the Zimbabwe's prospective since they started the tournament with a comprehensive winning note against Bangladesh.Bowled well against Sri Lanka and created a winning chance provided that the batsmen fire up.But indeed the batsmen let them down after being bowled out scoring 80 and provide Sri Lanka to attain a victory of large margin.Zimbabwe should now look forward to the upcoming 3 match ODI series against Bangladesh after the Tri Nation Cup.

Sri Lanka win the final, but based on this passage of play, it should probably have been Bangladesh's match:
Fall of wickets1-0 (Jayasuriya, 0.1 ov), 2-4 (Tharanga, 5.1 ov), 3-4 (Jayawardene, 5.3 ov), 4-5 (Kapugedera, 6.2 ov), 5-6 (Thushara, 7.6 ov). Very unlikely that a Zimbabwe / Sri Lanka final would have been as entertaining, to be honest...

Match Facts:
> Bangladesh scored 152 runs batting first.
> Raqibul Hasan scored 43* in 107 delivaries hitting 1 boundary.Mahmudullah(26),Naeem(21) and Tamim(18) contributed with him.
> Kulasekara got the top 3 batsmen of Bangladesh out quickly. His figure(8-1-19-3).Mendis ramp up the tail and his figure(9.4-0-24-3).Muraili picked the wicket of Mahmudullah and Nazmul and his figure(10-1-33-2).
> Sri Lanka were 6/5 at the end of 7 overs.Their scorecard looked like(Tharanga 2,
Jayasuriya 0,Sangakkara 2*,Jayawardene 0,Kapugedera 1,Thushara 1,Mubarak 1*).Incredable start by Bangladesh especially Nazmul and Mashrafe were right on target.
> Sanath Jayasuriya was first to go run out scoring 0 in an acromatic fielding by Shakib al hasan.
> Sangakkara(58),Mubarak(16),Maharoof(38*) repaired the innings a bit.
> When Sri Lanka was going closer to the target Shakib al hasan gave the breakthrough for Bangladesh when he caught Sangakkara in his own bowling.Just after that,he bold out Kulasekara scoring 0 in his very 2nd delivary.Bangladesh was back in the match in a way of winning as Sri Lanka needed another 39 runs in 30 bowls with just two wickets in hand.
>>> The crucial fact of the match, inexperience Rubel Hussain bowled very short and very bad,he gave 20 runs in an over to Murailitharan. For his reason the pressaure was off for Sri Lanka. The next over Shakib al hasan bowled and bowled well considering just 2 runs. But with three overs remaining of the match,it was very unlikely that Rubel will bowl again. But but but Mohammad Ashraful again gave bowl to Rubel Hussain and he considered 12 runs and Muraili leveled the score.Just 1 run needed,Sri Lanka took the run in the Naeem's first bowl of the over.
What should I say abt this match! It's better to say inexperience Rubel Hussain just killed Shakib al hasan's all hard work and attempt towards the victory of Bangladesh.Muttiah Murailitharan scored his career best 33* to take Sri Lanka home. It's a match that Bangladesh shouldnt have lost.
Kumar Sangakkara was named man of the match for his patient 59 and 4 catches.Shakib al hasan was named man of the series scoring 153 runs in 3 matches at 76.50 and took 5 wickets in the series and also field brilliantly.
