Burl is a complete passenger and sneaks under the radar with more shocking selections and performances from other guys covering for him. Got 2k t20i runs the same series Bennett did but been playing 10 years longer 😂
Can think of probably two match winning knocks in his entire career and one blistering bowling performance. He should be the case study of white privilege avoiding too much scrutiny 😂😂
Confirmation bias. Imagine if I said a certain player from Zim needs to go and it's because I assume he is acting like typical victims and never wanting to change themselves always blaming others, instead of building yourselves up and others through hardwork and determination. Only 5% of people in this world 🌍 are privileged, the elites, the majority of which are mixed race.
In regards to Burl. You cannot compare stats with an opener who can face 60 balls and Burl may get 6. Burl has got a ridiculous amount of not ours. Why does race have to do with anything, white privilege you said. Can you not look past someone's skin colour, in a white Aussie guy following Zimbabwe since late 2000 early days of 2001. It's tiresome and surely you can say something more intelligent. And without getting into a political debate, there's no such thing as white privilege anymore, it's the opposite. In the US, UK, Europe, Aus, most working class citizens live pay check to pay check, they have negative feelings about themselves, they carn't buy property, rent is ridiculous, inflation increases by 9.5% over a 12 month period , pay rise increased by 3.5%. it's not covering the inflation. You can look at the facts, these are widely studied subjects across Yale, Harvard, and Sydney, London, Melbourne. I suppose it greatly depends on where you reside and live in this world.
I know of you PatBee from the previous forum which I loved for my daily Zim cric updates etc. i respect everyone's takes and opinions on anything cricket related, but using the race card, especially with Zimbabwe and how it had, and still has its issues in the system and structurally have got issues within the system. I'm not here to hate anyone, or police this forum, but I'll call B.S out when others are part of the problem, not helping the solution. Peace ✌🏻
This white privilege is a real thing. White players get great PR from certain fan bases based on nothing more than the assumption they must be good at cricket because they’re white.
Like the whole Brad Evans social media campaign 😂 where is that for a black player like Masekesa or Mavuta when people are complaining Wellington isn’t a good enough spinner?! It’s nowhere. Guys will post about it for a couple of days then go quiet. Guys want Wellington dropped for Burl. The reasoning being Wellington doesn’t bowl his full quota and doesn’t take wickets, the solution is swap him for a white lad who bowls even less of his quota and takes even less wickets 💁🏻♂️ the crazy thing is wellington’s ODI economy is 4 point something, you won’t find anyone cheaper.
I respect what you're saying, and I get it. Please don't take this as an attack on anyone as it's not. Brad Evans, had been over in England training prior to his return to Zimbabwe, and he is certainly ahead of every pace bowler in Zimbabwe. Unfortunately i don't see anyone screaming out for selection. I mentioned in a previous post about Zimbabwes squad for the t20i series against India, »"(it may have been another series)"« I wanted Tendai Chatara, and more so Victor Nyauchi, I believe m taking the pace of the ball i

Yeah well there is one guy on the bench who happens to be a leggie, aint in the best of form but still has far better stats than the legendary wellington
Yeah Wellington is terrible

Sorry for the late reply to your post. I'll agree to disagree with you on the white privilege, but I will come to your side a bit more and I'll explain. I actually for 1 wanted Chatara, but more so Victor Nyauchi, in the T20 squad, I believe I mentioned it prior to the India series. Why ? I think the future of T20 Cricket is little dibbly dobblers, medium pacers, taking the pace off and swing is extremely important in the shortest format. In regards to Bradz he was trained by real greats of the game in both in South Africa and in England, and his performances are head and shoulders above most bowlers of pace coming through, certainly in consistency, and Brad still has a ways to go, so I totally believe he deserves his spot. I actually would want a few of the under 19 guys in the squad, I cannot think of the players names of by heart from the under 19's set up, but the aggressive allrounder from the under 19 world cup earlier this year, was it Chimogoro and the opener I have gone blank. But yes the team for t20s would drastically change if it were me.
But the contentious issue, you believe white privilege, okay, and this is where I'd say it's not so much privileged, nim trying to write this correctly, but for example a white player certainly has sports ingrained into them from an early age, and it's not privilege. Brad Evans father, Craig Evans as an example, played for Zimbabwe, so as soon as Brad Evans would realise as a child he probably had a clear idea that he would go into cricket, so he is given a ball and bar and he starts at 4 practising. A black player will usually gradually grow towards the sport of cricket, why? It's just how we are as people. White kids growing up sport is a major role in a child's life. Unfortunately the current generation was born during massive inflation and Zimbabwe was had mega issues, sport wasn't probably what was pushed onto kids, now of course, yes some will get pushed into sport, likely soccer, but still cricket too.

I respectfully agree to disagree. I did have an extremely long post I was writing as a reply, and I just thought when I was reading it back, I could do it in a more simplistic way. So the fan argument isn't really privilege because I'd easily say from what I see, most people are black Zimbabweans stating exactly what the few white Zimbabweans say. I have not stumbled across any racism in terms of a white man saying get rid of all the blacks, never, and vice versa. But I have seen people say things like, "I think it's time to put some of the better white players in the team so we can win". I dont agree with that at all, but it stems from frustration. But I've seen whites and blacks been attacked by Frank Mawoza, and he calls people racist based on people's suggestions that are not remotely racist. But the point is fans don't select the Zim squads, the selectors do. Zimbabwe Cricket has never ever succumbed to pressure by fan's. And you must remember that white caucasian Zimbabweans are multi generational cricket lovers, it's in the culture, cricket has only really been embraced by the majority of Zimbabweans until really not that long ago. So the players who are on the circuit today when they were kids the majority stayed away from the white man's game cricket. I could rattle on. But in the not too distant future there won't be this issue because the Zimbabwe Team will gradually have more and more of black players, it's just statistics. There maybe a few white caucasian players of course, but not to the same degree as previously and even now.. Also why the skill sets of some seem stronger than others to some, is because, when the white kids were just that, kids, sports and cricket are woven into the fabric of their brain as soon as they can realise, where I don't believe the same is said for others, why? If a white male has been training to play cricket professionally, then that male has been doing his own training with himself, where as black Zimbabweans been the majority have suffered the most and therefor, the idea of sport let alone cricket is further away . I use the analogy of teaching a child to speak a language different to their own. As a child our brains are growing fast and it's a sponge absorbing information so the kid can speak a different language by the time they're 13, almost if they always spoke that way. But if you don't with an older child later on in life, they may eventually speak that language but there was alot more work out into it and you can see it's not fluent, if you will. That's not privileged. That's just culturally different from each other. And remember fans as much as we'd like to hope and think, or even believe, they the ZC Board and the selectors choose, and remember there's no one white board member as far as I know, and certainly no selectors. That's my opinion and take, I'm so sorry if I have rambled and it's not as clear as I or you maybe wanted this to be. I'm obviously an Australian, but yeah sort of fallen off the wagon a bit, so I apologise again.
