We need to beat South Africa. It's been too long.
Who you got in your XI? Mine 👇
Curran, Bennett, Kaia, Raza (c), Wes, Burl, Maru(wk), Evans, Masakadza/Matigimu, Newman, Muzarabani
If Newman is fit, he comes back. Masakadza doesn't add much, but I wouldn't mind if he played ahead of Gimu who seems to struggle against SA.

Not even close to being a contest. Zimbabwe/SA matches are always one sided.

Brad Evans is the new Neil Johnson. Give him the new ball and make him open the batting in T20s.

Some of these guys should really try the uppercut like taylor used to play back in the day. Why take on the short ball, why not just use the pace to your own advantage and guide it over the keepers head? Wesley got out in similar fashion in couple of games.
Even if they place a fielder at third man, it might just open up space on either side of the ground since they can only have 5 fielders outside the circle

Marumani and bennett proved to be a good opening combo. But they dumped marumani down to bring curran as an opener. No offense but curran can play at no3 while marumani and bennett can take advantage of the powerplay even if one fails. If they are going to change slots randomly, might as well bring Evans up the order, atm he is striking better than Wesley and Raza. Its t20, your best batters should be facing most number of balls, if Evans is their finisher then why is marumani coming at no6/no7?
Also why is matigimu in the squad? Wellington is always there due to some influence or something but matigumu has been poor since last year. Where are Chivanga, Gwandu, Nyauchi & Masuku?

The difference between middle over Raza bowling vs Powerplay Raza bowling is night and day
Exactly! He leaks runs in the powerplay and doesn't look threatening at all.
I should shut up 😂
SA have been going at 10 an over from the first over.
Definitely not Googly 😂

We really suck at T20 cricket don't we? This is the best side we have and we are getting annihilated by South Africa D.
We could argue about team selections, but the truth is whichever side we pick, we are getting beat. I don't think Chivanga, Gwandu, Nyauchi or Masuku will change much. Heck, we've even tried geriatrics like Cremer and Taylor that hasn't worked.
Fortunately, we still have time to build a squad for 2028. It may not be a bad idea to reopen negotiations with Ryan Higgins. Tom Curran is another option, why not bring him into the fold?
Kudos to Brad Evans for showing some fight. He should definitely move up the order.

Have to give it to Raza though, that interview post match was straight up no-nonsense.
Sort of expected him to get a little defensive and put the transitioning team excuse.

We've been lagging behind in T20, that's for sure. Even the domestic comp goes on for 20 matches, when's that ever going to be enough to get the sort of players that are required now?
Trying Matt Campbell would be the next punt, I believe. But the squad itself has become a revolving door of players.
The one good thing though, we atleast know we are fielding our best squad.
As for Evans going up the order, I feel it would be an Irfan Pathan type experiment. Evans is a number 8, and him going up to 5 or 6 doesnt bode well to me.

I know the lads at ZC will look at this and be like, "we made the final, what a success", but it should actually be looked at as a bit of a failure.
You expect to beat Namibia, but the gulf between us and SA is so huge. Yet, Namibia beat SA, so how bad are we. We also finished the group stage on a really bad negative run rate, which is not ideal. One also has to question Raza. He may be a legend of the game, but i question his cricket brain. He spoke at the toss about wanting to use the swing and movement, then opens with Wes. Absolutely mind baffling. Be like Aus saying the same thing, then opening with Marnus instead of Starc.

I dont understand, maposa musekiwa munyonga got dropped and in come newman kaia wesley.. this looks like a pattern.. newman is a good replacement if ngarava is not available but this pattern of mostly replacing black guys with black guys suggests some sort of 'quota'
They never once went back to Nick welch in white ball, there are no signs of M welch, the Campbell bros or any white guy for that matter. Even in the world cup, Taylor got replaced by Ben Curran, white guy replacing white guy yet before the world cup, they were not even interested in Curran as a t20 player which might be right as he is struggling. Ever since Raza, williams, taylor and ervine started to reach 40s, the only white guys in the circuit who seemed to get a shot in the squad were Curran, Bennett, Welch & Naqvi(cant yet play for zim).
This looks like a pattern whichever way you wanna look at it. Im not trying to be racial here but ZC is trying its level best to ignore some people yet more and more chances are given to Wesley who by the way was banned for a few months a couple of years ago but Nick Welch incident which was not substance use related has him sidelined since quite some months. Tsiga never made his white ball debut yet he is backup wk to marumani and we still have madande roaming in the squad or nearby, he was also part of WC

🎯 bull's eye! Raza's captaincy has not been great.

Naqvi is white? 😂
What I meant was there is a like for like replacement, even color wise. Naqvi is ofcourse razas replacement and will probably play at the same slot raza does once naqvi becomes eligible.

He needs his papers sorting quickly then.
Otherwise Raz is retiring at 50 or there will be a decade of Faraz 😂😂
